Nursing Graduate Guarantee Program (NGG)
Halton Healthcare has been actively participating in the Ontario Ministry of Health's Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) program since its initiation. The NGG program supports new nurses in successfully transitioning to practice by helping them develop the skills required to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.
We’d love to hear from recent nursing graduates to discuss your participation in this program. Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN)
In an effort to attract top talent, Halton Healthcare is a proud participant in Ontario Health’s Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN). The CCPN provides $25,000 in incentives to nurses in the program in exchange for a two-year commitment to work at Halton Healthcare in a full-time nursing role.
To be eligible for the CCPN, a nurse must:
- Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired
- Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Begin employment no later than March 31, 2024
- Commit to two-years of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the employer
- Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses

Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP)
We are pleased to partner with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and Ontario Health to offer this program to eligible nurses. This program offers applicants the option to complete a supervised practice experience in Ontario as part of the eligibility requirements to obtain general registration with the CNO.
Once in the program, you’ll participate in our corporate and nursing orientation. We will offer a supervised practice experience for a minimum of 140 hours. We will provide you with a nurse preceptor to supervise and guide you including providing feedback and learning opportunities. At the completion of the program, we will submit an evaluation form to the CNO.

Temporary Class Registration (CNO)
We offer opportunities for new nursing graduates as well as Internationally Educated Nurses who meet the eligibility requirements for the CNO's Temporary Class registration.
The Temporary Class is an option for RN, RPN and NP applicants to practice nursing while they complete their remaining requirements to register in the General Class.
Registrants in this class practice under defined terms and conditions. You can join the General Class after you fulfill all the registration requirements and pass your exam.

Enhanced Extern Program (watch the website for the next intake in early 2024)
The Extern Program was originally designed for hospitals to hire nursing students in their third and fourth years of the BScN program, as well as nursing students in their final year of the Practical Nursing Program. (The Program is open to students in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and respiratory therapy).
Clinical externs can be involved in many aspects of patient care including assessments, promoting patient safety through falls risk assessments and skin assessments, helping with activities of daily living, and other interventions.
