Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Program

Halton Healthcare provides multidisciplinary short-term treatment to children and adolescents under the age of 18 with moderate to severe symptoms. This includes individuals who have recently been discharged from hospital for medical stabilization, or who may experience acute medical crisis if appropriate intervention is not offered. Individuals with milder symptoms may benefit from community based supports. The team includes social workers, dieticians, nurse practitioners, psychiatry and a pediatrician.

Services Include

  • Mandatory educational groups for parents/caregivers
  • Adapted Family-Based Treatment model for eating disorders that primarily involves consultation with parents to re-establish consistent eating patterns aligned with recovery
  • Medical monitoring in collaboration with the referring primary care provider
